I’ve sung the praises of this wine in the past and it has long been one of my favorite go to value white wines. Last night I had the chance to taste the 2010 vintage and I was pleased to see it is business as usual for rock star winemaker Telmo Rodriguez (pictured above for the benefit of all the ladies out there, Viva Spain!).
Basa is an interesting blend Verdejo (85%) and Viura (12%) ,two local grapes, with a touch of Sauvignon Blanc (3%) thrown in for good measure. This is crisp and refreshing, with delightful flavours of pineapple, passionfruit and citrus. At $16 per bottle this is a smokin’ value and deserves a place in everyone’s wine rack.
Available in Calgary at Bin 905 Wine & Spirits, Highlander Wines and The Wine Shop. Call ahead for availability.
Cheers,
Jesse
