Review: Bowmore 15 Year “Darkest” Single Malt Scotch

Bowmore “Darkest”

Bowmore is one of the best known distilleries in Scotland and has long been known for producing a soft, sexy and slightly smoky style of Scotch whisky. Hailing from the Island of Islay, Bowmore claims to have started producing whisky in 1779.

I was recently given a sample bottle of the 15 year “Darkest” whisky and was blown away by this delicious, easy drinking dram.

Darkest is part of the core range of Bowmore whiskies. The combination of age (15 years old) and the oloroso sherry casks gives this a beautiful sweet note that compliments the hint of peat. The Darkest rolls softly across the tongue, leaving behind flavours of raisins, chocolate, sea salt and just a touch of the famous Islay smoke.

This is a great choice for those that are looking to ease into the peaty side of Scotch and is a great accompaniment to a weekend of camping or a round of golf.

Jesse
