Review: 2011 Sacha Lichine “Le Poussin” Rose

In my mind there really is no more refreshing beverage on a hot Summer’s day than a cool glass of classic dry rose. Given the current heat wave we’re experiencing here in Calgary I thought that our newest rose would be an appropriate choice for a wine to review.

Hailing from seaside vineyards in the South of France, the 2011 “Le Poussin” rose is as classic as they come. Made from 100% Grenache, this has a beautiful bright salmon colour and a cute little label to boot. The nose delivers delicious notes of fresh raspberry, strawberry and citrus. On the palate the Poussin is dry, with lifted acidity and flavours of grapefruit and red summer berries that follow through from the nose.

This is a great deal at $18 and is absolutely screaming for a beautiful salmon fillet, seared ahi tuna or a picnic basket full of fruits, meats and cheese.

Stellar stuff and currently Vine Arts is the only retailer in Calgary carrying this little gem.

Happy drinking!

Jesse
